f you want to know more about what kind of mulch we distribute, what kind of mulch is good for your purpose and what you can expect to be delivered from us, we hope this article gives you all possible answers.
Our primary focus is caring for your trees and shrubs, which involves trimming, shaping, and, when necessary, removing trees. The work we do generates a significant amount of natural material, resulting in the creation of mulch as a by-product. It would be wasteful to disregard this useful material or dispose of it in a landfill. Therefore, as an additional service, we also sell and distribute the mulch that we produce.
What kind of mulch do we deliver?
Our customers often request completely clean mulch, meaning wood chips without any green material mixed in, preferably from gum tree or pine tree or other specific wood types. However, our company can rarely fulfil these requests, except when we are removing a completely dead tree. In all other cases, the mulch will contain a certain proportion of green material, which results from mulching the branches. Depending on the trees and shrubs we process, we categorize our mulch as clean, mixed, or palm tree mulch.
Clean tree mulch
Our clean mulch contains a mixture of freshly removed chopped trunks or branches, including the green parts of trees and shrubs.
This mulch is an excellent solution for preventing weeds and provides better protection for your garden than pure wood chips. The green parts break down faster than the wood, creating a dense layer that makes it more difficult for weeds to penetrate compared to fluffy wood chips. Additionally, it works as a fertiliser and enriches the soil with nutrients, much needed for our mostly sandy soil. And of course, it retains water better in the soil.
The only drawback of this mulch may be its initially less appealing aesthetic. However, once the green parts decompose and settle beneath the wood chips, you are left with an aesthetically perfect mulch.
So if your primary reason for using mulch is to prevent weeds, our pure mulch is the best choice.
Mixed mulch
The second type of mulch we offer is the so-called mixed mulch. It is typically a blend of lower quality wood species such as hedges, conifers, palm trees, etc. This mulch contains a high percentage of green material and pieces that are aesthetically unattractive. As a result, it decomposes faster and needs to be replaced more frequently.
Palm tree mulch
The last type of mulch is palm mulch. This mulch is often mistakenly considered to be of very low quality, when in fact the opposite is true. While it may not look as neat as other types of mulch, because chippers have trouble chopping palm wood evenly into neat pieces, palm tree mulch is excellent for conserving water. Its irregular particles break down slowly, making it perfect for areas prone to wind and water erosion.
